On Saturday Nov. 17th, I will emcee the gala of the 8th annual celebration of the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) which will be at Imperiela Theatre in Saint-John (New-Brunswick).

Gravelbourg, “Sakatchewan’s cultural gem”. I’ll be there mid-April for dance workshops with the folk dance troup “Les danseurs de la rivière la vieille” with my colleague France Bourque (no, she is not my sister nor my wife).
It’s always with great pleasure that I got back to Gravelbourg !

Three Pieces
Un énorme merci à Vlad Oboronko du site Three Pieces pour l’entrevue récemment filmée alors que j’étais de passage à New York avec La Bottine Souriante. Je dois admettre qu’avant de voir les vidéos, je n’avais pas tout à fait compris le concept derrière les “three pieces”. Le résultat final est franchement excellent et m’a permis de dépoussiérer quelques archives…

I must admit that i did not totally understood the concept of three pieces before I saw the videos. Frankly, the final result is excellent plus it allowed me to go through my photo archives…

Place Royale, Québec, août 1986 pendant le spectacle “Gens du Québec” ; ce même spectacle avait été présenté pendant 1 semaine à Vancouver, en mai 1986, au pavillon Folk Life, dans le cadre l’Expo ’86.
August 1986, Place Royale, Quebec City for a show called “Gens du Québec”. The same show was also presented for a week in Vancouver on May 1986, at Folk Life pavilion during Expo ’86.
De gauche à droit : Benoit, Normand Miron, Robert Bouthillier, Clarence Bordeleau (c’est de lui que les Charbonniers ont appris la chanson “C’était un charbonnier, là-haut sur sa montagne…”) et enfin, tout à droite, le dernier et non le moindre, Alphonse Morneau (il est décédé en mars 2010, il avait plus de 90 ans. C’était un chanteur traditionnel de Charlevoix que plusieurs générations d’ethnologues ont interviewé.)
