On August 8th 2025, Benoit was awarded “The Ernie King Tradition Bearer Award ” “in recognition of his dedication to traditional music” at the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron, Ontario. The award was handed to him during the opening night of the festival by festival artistic director and general manager Cheryl Prashker, and festival co-founder Warren Robinson.
